Student Welfare
For many families considering a new school, questions of education are rightly at the forefront of their minds, most acknowledge however this isn’t all that is important to look for. The families who form our community have trusted us with the academic development of their children, yet we also strive to educate each student as a whole person. We believe that each student has physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual needs that are important to shape during their journey to maturity. At Logos School, we have crafted systems to help us remain aware of each student’s individual needs and offer support where it is required at every stage of their development.
Pastoral Care(Pre-School & Primary)
In our preschool and primary classes, the class teacher gets to know each of their students very well. The majority of their learning takes place in their ‘home’ classroom – and is overseen by that teacher. Often, their needs are supported by our able team of assistants who will be with them in the classroom on a daily basis. Parents can contact the class teacher through a number of different methods, and raise any concerns or let them know if there are any challenges in the students lives that day. Our Class teachers work together with the Head of Discipline, SENCO, and counsellors if necessary to make sure that whatever happens, we are there to support them. We take a pro-active approach to child safety, internet safety, health and wellbeing raising awareness of issues and dealing with them as and when they come up.
Pastoral Care (Secondary)
In the secondary school, each form class has a tutor who carries out morning welcome registration and holds PSHE classes with their students weekly or biweekly. These classes cover a variety of topics including mental health, life skills, careers, and more. The tutor is also the first point of contact for their students; therefore, if any other teacher has concerns, they inform the tutor. When necessary, tutors then contact the Pastoral Lead, who can direct students to counsellors or appoint a staff member who can support them. Any discipline or academic concerns are also passed to tutors by the Head of Discipline or teachers. Where possible, students will keep the same form tutor on their journey through secondary school, allowing the tutors to get to know students and their parents well, providing the best level of care. Tutors will also be involved in the careers and academic routes/options selection along with our careers guidance counsellor, helping students to plan their next steps and routes into work or further studies
Any questions or concerns from parents can be passed straight to the tutor and dealt with in school as needed.
Safeguarding (whole School)
Keeping students safe is the most important part of any school. If any of our staff members becomes aware of a safeguarding issue, they must directly contact our Safeguarding Lead and Principal who follows our internal policies – in accordance with Ministry of Education and Welfare guidance. We work together with parents, and when necessary outside agencies such as the Welfare office, Police, and Medical teams to make sure our students are kept safe.
Our Pastoral Team consists of counsellors, tutors, teachers, and our Safeguarding Team. We all work in close communication with our parents to ensure the welfare of each of our students.
