OUR EXPECTATIONS

We have high expectations for personal behaviour and respect for others from all of our students. Age appropriate guides for how to treat each other, the property of others or the school, and our staff are made clear throughout the school.

FAQS

These FAQ's are aimed at parents of our current students, answering questions about school day-to-day operation. Do you notice something missing? Feel free to let us know so we can add more helpful answers!

How do I let you know my child will not be in school today?

Please call us or or email admin@logos.ac.cy before 8:00am to let us know if your child will not be in. If your child is going to off due to illness for 3 or more days, a medical note will be needed from your child’s doctor. For any other reasons for absence, please let us know in advance.

How do I get an absence for my child pre-approved?

This is the best way to approach future absences, and where possible in the planning stages! Absences are approved according to our absence policy and Ministry of Education guidelines.

Where possible, we request that parents do their best to avoid absences during school-time, and book trips, medical/other appointments during the school holidays. Missing school is never ideal for students learning journeys, and students who exceed maximum absence periods face modified promotion criteria in consultation with the Ministry.

Please email the Principal (principal@logos.ac.cy) to request permission in advance. Please be aware, not all requests are granted – family circumstances, student attendance levels, policies, Ministry guidance and other factors will be taken into consideration. We do understand in some circumstances – time needs to be taken during the school year, please get in touch early to discuss this with us.

What kind of absences can be approved?

We are as reasonable as we can be, but please communicate clearly what the reasons are! “Personal Reasons” or “Family Trip” is not clear enough – we will treat all information with the expected levels of confidentiality! If there is a genuine need, and absences are reasonable and within the limits we must abide by, you have nothing to worry about! Here are some examples that will not be questioned:

  • Religious observance
  • Family event e.g. wedding (please explain)
  • International sporting competition

Here are some examples that will not be authorised:

  • Birthday
  • Waterpark visit
  • Local bus cancellation

It's my child's birthday, can they bring in a cake?

Happy Birthday!

Of course! We do ask that they bring in individual cakes or wrapped treats, and communicate with the teacher in advance to check if there are any allergies you should be aware of – and clearly label if you have baked the treats yourself and allergens are included!

Teachers shouldn’t be expected to cut a cake or divide portions!

What do I do if I cant collect my child on time?

If you are on the way and delayed in traffic – or something unexpected happens, please call the school office to let us know. For longer delays for Primary students, one off session of the After School Club can usually be arranged.

What do I do if someone else is collecting my child?

Our younger students are only released to parents or people you have let us know will be collected your child. If someone else is coming, please let the teacher know in advance, or if it is a last minute arangement, call the school office. We may request a photo from you, or ID from the arranged collector before we release the child. As soon as you know this is happening, please get in touch!
