Our Expectations

At Logos School we believe it is right to have  High Expectations of ourselves and each other. As we Learn, Grow and Serve together – we rely on each other to show respect and consideration towards our students, staff and community members.

“So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you…” Matthew 7 verse 12; The Bible.

In different areas of the school there are different ‘rules’ – however the principle of respecting ourselves and others is central to how we expect each other to behave throughout the whole school. It is often observed that Logos may be considered ‘strict’ by some, we consider this a quality that is paired with fairness and love and brings balance and a purposeful, cooperative caring environment.

Here are a list of some expectations that run throughout the school:

1. Students should wear the correct school uniform, bring and look after their required equipment, respect others and the belongings of others and the school; being polite, sensible and courteous at all times
2. Parents should ensure fees are paid, students attend school, arrive/leave promptly and contact us (in advance where possible) if and when absence is unavoidable; informing teachers of any issues or concerns in a timely manner
3. Teachers should plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of their students; promote the schools values and allowing their students to thrive; ensuring the welfare of the students in their care

In the Primary department, we promote the following qualities and expectations based on scripture and the example of Christ.

a. Respect: We treat others with kindness, courtesy, and consideration.
Do unto others as you as you would have them do unto you. – Luke 6:31

b. Responsibility: We take ownership of our actions, choices, and learning.
“He has shown you…what is good…. To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8

c. Resilience: We persevere through challenges and setbacks.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles. Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus.” – Hebrews 12:1

d. Cooperation: We work collaboratively and support one another.
“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labour. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

e. Safety: We ensure the well-being and physical safety of ourselves and others. “The LORD will keep you from all harm, He will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” – Psalms 121:7

In the Secondary department, we have high expectations of each other enabling mutual respect in the following of these rules and and expectations based on scripture and the example of Christ.

“And Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37-39

Be polite
Students should:

• speak in English (unless in other language classes)
• treat their teachers with respect
• always behave in a sensible, courteous, and polite manner to fellow students and those in authority

Be conscientious
Students must:

• use the homework diary, keeping it tidy and up to date
• keep school bags & books clean
• wear correct school uniform
• avoid bad or hurtful language
• attend and be on time for school and classes

Be safe
Students must not:

• let anyone into the school site or open external gates
• leave the school premises at any time during the school day
• smoke, vape etc.
• eat indoors or chew gum
• fight or rough-play
• have mobile phones or smart watches in school

Whilst rules and guidelines are important, it is also important to us to encourage all in our community to go above and beyond – aiming for excellence rather than merely avoiding falling below the minimum standard.

Students are therefore encouraged to :

Be kind

• open the door for someone
• compliment a classmate
• smile
• include a classmate who is usually on their own

Be honest

• be honest and open with your friends
• say sorry if you have hurt someone
• gently confront your friends in private if you are upset with them
• apologise when you get it wrong

Be respectful

• respect people older than you be ready to learn from them
• listen to people you don’t agree with
• if you have a problem share it with an adult you trust

Be loving

• forgive your friends and teachers – remembering everyone makes mistakes
• encourage others and yourself to focus on people’s positive traits
• say thank you to a teacher after a lesson
• go out of your way to help others

At Logos School we take bullying very seriously.

Whilst it will always be our ambition to prevent it, bullying is sadly found wherever people are; our promise at Logos is that as soon as we are aware of any issues of bullying – we will deal with it.

Swearing, intimidation and acts of violence or cruelty are not tolerated at Logos. We take all cases of behaviour like this very seriously and immediately deal with such cases if and when they happen.

Sadly, in most cases – bullying behaviours develop slowly without children realising the ‘in-joke’ is no longer funny. We aim to restore relationship, tackle unkindness and ensure students learn not to repeat these behaviours. This often involves hard conversation and sharing difficult truths in love. Communication is key in these cases. As a small school with a community where everyone is known, we will often notice when issues arise, but not always. We strongly encourage parents and students to talk to our staff before small discomfort turns into lasting hurt.
